USER’S GUIDE
FDC (Financial Data Calculator) is a uniquely powerful software
package for manipulating, analyzing, and graphing data related to stocks, commodities,
or indeed from any source of daily, weekly, or monthly data. It is designed
with a calculator-style interface that is easy and natural to use; but like
all complex software having many and varied capabilities, it will require an
initial period of familiarization.
It is not necessary to know all about FDC in order to use it for simple procedures.
Like all well-designed products, it permits you to use each capability as you
learn it. Thus you can do many useful things almost at once, while you absorb
the more intricate features at your own pace. As your knowledge and experience
grows, you will continue to marvel at the usefulness of FDC, whose functionality
grows with you. FDC provides the environment in which practically anything you
can conceive of doing to data can be accomplished.
The FDC User's Guide is designed to be read like a book. We have tried to keep
it light in order to encourage you to read the manual and get to know and use
FDC. On the other hand, we recognize that after you become familiar with FDC
you may occasionally need to make quick reference to a particular function just,
for example, to check its syntax. In that case, the last thing that you want
is to have to read a paragraph of instruction or perhaps several paragraphs.
For this reason, we have provided quick syntax references in the Help by Topics
section.
There are also Demos that will take you through many of the features of FDC.
